Dr. Calvin Crichton, BA, M. Div., R.Ac. R. Hb, Dr. TCM

Doctor of TCM, Registered Acupuncturist, Instructor

Calvin first became involved in Traditional Asian medicine through his lifelong study of Japanese and Chinese martial arts. Many of the martial arts systems he has studied over the past 40 years incorporate varying degrees of alternative medicine into their curriculum. As a result, it was only natural that Calvin begin to pursue a more formalized training in this field.

His background is indeed deeply steeped in Asian medicine. His education in that medicine is, however, purely Canadian. He has attended three different schools in three provinces and one mentorship program). He holds one tuina diploma, two acupuncture diplomas and two D.TCM diplomas from three different schools. These schools include the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese medicine, the Canadian College of Acupuncture and TCM and the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Calvin received a Traditional Japanese medicine Menkyo Kaiden (PHD equivalent in Japan) diploma from the Nippon Isshinho Nokkan Igakube in Toyama, Japan after several years of undertaking a mentorship (which he continues today).

In regards to mentorship training, Calvin has also had advanced training in Auricular Medicine under the direct tutelage of Dr. Li Chun Huang receiving a Master of Auricular Medicine diploma in that discipline.

In regards to teaching, Calvin has taught at acupuncture colleges across Canada. He has been a decade-long continuing education teacher for the Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia (ATCMANS).

Finally, Calvin spent many years on several TCM boards in Nova Scotia where he has helped to further the regulation process moving forward in that province.
